BRIDGEWATER A Ware man was seriously injured Sunday night in Bridgewater when police say the speeding driver struck multiple trees and was ejected from his vehicle, which caught fire as a result of the impact.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. near 554 Forest St. The crash was witnessed by off-duty Bridgewater police K9 Officer Christopher Rondeau, who was travelling in the opposite direction, Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Acting Fire Chief Michael P. MacDermott said in a joint written statement. Officer Rondeau was able to drag the victim away from the fire, which was expanding to nearby brush and trees, and rendered first aid along with responding Officer Theo Barbetto.

Jolene Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ray of Lignoier has been selected as representative to Girls State this summer. Ray is a junior at West Noble High School. Vicki Gerke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gerke of Ligonier as been selected as alternate to Girls State.
A Central Noble High School teacher has been appointed the field representative for the Miss Northeast Indiana Scholarship Pageant Association. Mrs. Carole Wolfe, who resides in Wolf Lake, said, âI am delighted to be associated with this dedicated group of people who are bringing outstanding scholarship opportunities to deserving girls of Noble County.â
