A proposed new downtown food hall continues to move forward. In February, conceptual plans were submitted to the city to open identical 20-stall marketplaces for small food vendors in two different downtown locations. Now a final location has been selected and revised plans were submitted for review. An 18-stall marketplace would be constructed in the one-story building at 733-737 N. Milwaukee St. It would serve in-person diners, carryout customers and delivery operators.

Milwaukee restaurants: Food hall planned for downtown is proceeding

The one-story, 5,900-square-foot building, 733-737 N. Milwaukee St., was sold for $850,000 to 733-737 N. Milwaukee St. Mke LLC, according to newly filed state real estate records. Representatives for the building s new owner, which lists a Los Angeles address, didn t respond to requests for more information. The Journal Sentinel in February reported that the site was being considered for a food hall. Identical plans for the building, and a site at 107 E. Wells St., were filed with city building inspectors. Those plans called for 14 to 18 individual restaurant operators serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The city Department of Neighborhood Services classified the proposals as  presubmittal reviews for conversations about possible uses at the buildings.

Oak Creek to provide $30 million in financing for Lakeshore Commons

The financing would be provided through new property tax revenue generated by the Lakeshore Commons project. It would be developed on 66 acres next to Lake Vista Park, north of Bender Park and east of South Fifth Avenue, that was part of Oak Creek s largely industrialized lakefront for decades. Milwaukee development firm F Street Group LLC plans to build Lakeshore Commons in  phases over several years. The housing units would include both rental units as well as those for sale. The Oak Creek Common Council on Tuesday night voted 5-0 for a development agreement that would fund up to $14.6 million for the project s first phase.
