SFI also flagged the issue of those between 18-44 years not getting appointments at hospitals for vaccination (Image used for representational purpose only) GUWAHATI: The CPI-affiliated Nikhil Bharat Krishak Sabha (NBKS) and members of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Friday staged a one-hour protest demanding a free universal mass vaccination programme and lashed out at the government for not expediting the vaccination drives in Assam. The SFI also criticized the Assam government for not taking any positive step to start vaccination for those in the 18-45 age group from May 1 even as the Centre gave the nod to give 18+ the jab from Saturday.

Aishe Ghosh Aishe Ghosh is a student activist and politician who will make her electoral debut in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2021. Ghosh will be contesting the election from Jamuria constituency in West Bengal on a Communist Party of India (Marxist) ticket. She is a research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and is currently the president of the JNU Students Union (JNUSU).  She is also a member of Student’s Federation of India, (SFI). SFI is a student’s wing of CPI(M).   Ghosh hails from Durgapur in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Born on October 22, 1995, Ghosh is the oldest child of Debashish Ghosh and Sharmishta Ghosh. Her father is a member of Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU), which is the labour wing of CPI(M) and he works at Damodar Valley Corporation. Aishe’s mother Sharmishta Ghosh is a housewife.

JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh to contest Bengal polls on CPM ticket TNN | Updated: Mar 11, 2021, 08:21 IST NEW DELHI: JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, whose photographs of bandaged forehead became one of the most powerful images of the 2020 fee hike movement, will be contesting the West Bengal assembly election on CPM ticket from Jamuria. The 25-year-old from Durgapur is pursuing MPhil/Phd from the School of International Relations. Ghosh joins a long list of ex-JNUSU presidents who graduated to state and national politics: DP Tripathi, Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechuri, Chandrashekhar Prasad, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Tanvir Akhtar and Kanhaiya Kumar. With the exception of Tanveer who won as an NSUI candidate, the others represented Left student bodies of different hues.
