Rick Santorum, who’s currently a CNN contributor, sparked a viral controversy after insisting that “there isn’t much Native American culture in American culture” at a Young America’s Foundation event on Friday, April 23 later apologizing while claiming that he “misspoke” at the conservative gathering.
Before the faith-driven pilgrims filled with Judeo-Christian values who fled from England in the name of religious persecution initially landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts around 1620, “we came here and created a blank state,” according to Santorum. “We birthed a nation from nothing.”

This question, prompted by Dr. Joe Stahlman a Tuscarora man who serves as director of the Seneca Nation Tribal Historical Preservation Office, the Seneca Iroquois National Museum and the Onöhsagwë:de Cultural Center refers to the ongoing issue Native Americans face of having to constantly remind others they are not mascots or peoples of the past.
Stahlman has been fighting against that idea since he was 18, a 30-year battle to be seen as a living, breathing human belonging to a culture that still exists.

The response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the renewed discussion over the cultural sensitivity of the Jamestown High School mascot were among topics discussed by Jamestown Public Schools superintendent during a live-streamed conversation with members of the Jamestown Justice Coalition.
The coalition, formed in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement over the summer, discussed on Tuesday several topics with Kevin Whitaker, who began his tenure as the district’s superintendent in July. Participants in the discussion included Corey Brown, Emily Garrick, Alize Scott and Justin Hubbard.
