SunStar File photo May 12, 2021 THREE additional vaccination sites in Cebu were opened on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, to help hasten the inoculation of private sector workers under the Project Balik Buhay s (PBB s) Covid-19 vaccination initiative. Cebu now has a total of six inoculation sites for its ongoing vaccination for senior citizens, healthcare workers and individuals with comorbidities working in DOH-registered and local government-approved private companies in Cebu. The first three vaccination sites were the Cebu Doctors University Hospital in Cebu City, Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City and the Allegiant Regional Care Hospital in Lapu Lapu City. Meanwhile, the PBB on Tuesday also announced that it is currently finalizing and reviewing all company applications from its existing database of approved registered companies for any corrections or revisions to allow newly hired employees or those who previously hesitated to be inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine

More vaccination sites opened in Metro Cebu

(CebuDoc Group / Facebook) PBB is an initiative of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, local government units, Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH Region 7), and private sector to help the government’s drive against COVID-19 pandemic. The newly opened vaccination sites are located at the Visayas Community Medical Center (VCMC) in Cebu City, Mactan Doctors’ Hospital in Lapu-Lapu City, and Mendero Medical Center in Consolacion, Cebu. The PBB has previously helped put up vaccination sites at the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital in Cebu City, Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City, and Allegiant Regional Care (ARC) in Lapu-Lapu. According to PBB, at least 7,000 employees from 615 companies have availed themselves of the free vaccination.

Stringent storage requirements delay distribution of Pfizer shots

SunStar (AP photo) May 12, 2021 THE Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH 7) has yet to iron out supply chain arrangements prior to the distribution of the 29,250 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine delivered to the region on Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021. Cebu City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said a meeting has been set for Friday, May 14, to finalize allocations. Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH 7 spokesperson, said in a virtual briefing on Wednesday, May 12, that they have not determined the allocations for each local government unit (LGU). Earlier, she said the vaccine will go to the three highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, which have the capability to store the vaccine at ultra-low temperature.
