The Cincinnati police union has raised thousands of dollars for the family of an officer who is recovering after having a malignant brain tumor surgically removed.
A GoFundMe page – set up by the local lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police – has raised more than $28,000 to help cover medical expenses and other unexpected costs for the family of Thomas Haas, a 28-year veteran with the Cincinnati Police Department.
Haas was diagnosed with a malignant glioma (a tumor that originates in the glial cells of the brain or spinal cord) in July 2020, according to the union. He underwent surgery to have the tumor removed in September and is currently undergoing chemo and radiation treatments.
