These five businesses are Silver Strong
From Staff Reports
SILVER CITY - Silver City MainStreet is acknowledging downtown businesses that have persevered during the COVID pandemic with Downtown Silver City Strong awards. The awards are a way to say thank you to businesses that have worked hard to stay open and find new and creative ways to operate.
The latest recipients are The Glasserie, Manzanita Ridge, Sierra Communications, Cholla Cholla Studios and Dandelion Wish.
The Glasserie provides local-made glass art for the community. Our studio space is home to multiple working artists and we want to keep producing glass in a safe and comfortable environment, said owner Aari Werber. So we have been closed more than normal lately but look for us to be open regularly in the coming weeks and months with a new schedule. Please give us a call for any of your glassy gifty needs at 590-0044.”

Morning Star co-owner Lynn Mondello looks at merchandise in her store following its reopening Wednesday. Morning Star was closed during a two-week-long “reset” last month to curb the spread of COVID-19.
As Grant County and most of the rest of New Mexico transitioned to the red stage of reopening Wednesday, most small businesses were allowed to expand their services beyond curbside following a two-week “reset” that shuttered many shops.
In the red level of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s reopening plan, “nonessential” businesses, such as gyms, hair salons, places of worship and retail stores, can again open their doors at 25 percent of their maximum capacity. Restaurants can also serve customers on patios again, also at 25 percent capacity. Indoor dining is still not allowed.
