Siskiyou County also needs help from federal agencies starting with more law enforcement. Our California District 1 Congressman Doug LaMalfa is seeking help from federal agencies. He has reported “threats” that have been made towards our sheriff and the county to the FBI asking for help. We also need U.S. Marshals, Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Wildlife Service officials here to see first-hand the destruction and help abate it. Last week, LaMalfa released four videos specific to the main issues with these organized crime activities. The videos are short from three to six minutes long and packed with visuals and information. LaMalfa, Sheriff LaRue and Supervisor Haupt at the illegal grows;  “Siskiyou OES visit to discuss Lava fire and illegal grows;  “Inside the grows and the impact on the environment”; and “Bulldozing the grows.

It is a day to be proud : Sheriff LaRue speaks at Fallen Peace Officers memorial Siskiyou Daily News Around the country as part of Police Week, law enforcement agencies are paying tribute to officers who have died while in the line of duty. In Siskiyou County, the Siskiyou County Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony event was held in front of the courthouse steps in Yreka Tuesday afternoon. The annual event honors those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.   “Today was humbling,” said Siskiyou County Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue, who gave the remarks at the event. “As the bagpipes played Amazing Grace,  I found myself filled with emotion and proud to be joined by peace officers, family, and friends from all around the county to remember those we have lost.”

Liz Writes Life: More coho returned to Scott River this year Liz Bowen Siskiyou County Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue will be speaking at the next Siskiyou Conservative Republican’s meeting, tomorrow, March 11. LaRue was appointed sheriff by the Siskiyou Co. Board of Supervisors, last year, when Sheriff Jon Lopey retired early. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Montague at 150 S. 12th St. Those who would like to hear Sheriff LaRue share information about the county are invited to attend. The meeting is free, but if you would like a great Irish corned-beef and cabbage, red potatoes, Irish breads and dessert luncheon, you can call in your reservation to Annie at 530-842-2350. Cost for the luncheon in $13. Grill Master Dave Tyler is in charge of the lunch.
