Unlike many cold cases in which a person goes missing and is never found, the case of 15-year-old Tammy Call in Vernon Parish was one in which a body was discovered. However, 31 years after she went missing and 24 years after the remains of the teenager were found, investigators still donât know how she died or how her body came to be in a swampy wooded area of the Kisatchie National Forest near Boundary Road and LA Highway 10.
Over the weekend, a large number of law enforcement personnel poured into those same woods at the same location where Callâs body was found in 1997 and began a painstaking search for â anything.

The Vernon Parish Sheriffâs Department has announced the death of a jail inmate, and they say it was captured on security video.
46-year-old Robert Matthew Lombardo had been in jail for only three days after he was arrested on Tuesday. He stood accused of murdering his father and step-mother.
According to Sheriff Sam Craftâs office, shortly before 1:00 on Friday afternoon, jail personnel monitoring surveillance cameras noticed Lombardo fall to the floor. Craft noted that Lombardo was alone in a segregation cell.
Craft said jailers went to the cell immediately and began administering CPR, and noticed an injury to Lombardoâs left eye. Despite life-saving efforts by both jail staff and an ambulance crew, Lombardo died.
