Kajol charged in another DSA case
Investigators have brought charges against photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol in another case filed under the Digital Security Act stating that his purpose was to deteriorate law and order through aggressive intimidation and posting defamatory photos and writings on Facebook.
Among the 32 accused named in the first information report (FIR) of the case, police found evidence only against Kajol.
Bangla daily Manabzamin Editor-in-Chief Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, its staff reporter Al Amin, and 29 others were not named in the charge sheet of the case, filed by ruling Awami League lawmaker (Magura-1) Saifuzzaman Shikhor, as the investigators did not find any evidence against them, according to the police probe report.

A Dhaka tribunal will decide on March 24 whether to accept the charges pressed against photographer Shafiqul Islam Kajol who has been accused of circulating indecent, defamatory, objectionable and false information about several ministers, MPs and Jubo Mohila League leaders on Facebook.
After receiving the case dockets, Judge Mohammad Ash Sams Joglul Hossain of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal yesterday set the date, according to Shamim Al Mamun, bench assistant of the tribunal.
The judge asked Kajol to appear before the tribunal on March 24.
After a probe that took almost 10 months, Sub-inspector Mohammad Russell Mollah of the Detective Branch of police gave the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate s Court of Dhaka on January 27 in the case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

Trial of the narcotics case filed against expelled Jubo Mohila League leader Shamima Nur Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon began at a Dhaka tribunal today with deposition of the complainant.
Judge Md Amirul Islam of the Special Tribunal-8 of Dhaka recorded the statement of Md Shafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of Rapid Action Battalion-1.
The judge then set April 12 for cross-examination of the complainant on behalf of the couple.
In his statement, Shafique said that being informed from a reliable source, a team led by him along with a magistrate conducted a drive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and arrested Papia, her husband and their two accomplices at 12:40pm on February 22 last year when they were trying to leave the country.
