Organic vegetables a boon for Rajshahi farmers

RAJSHAHI, May 23, 2021 (BSS)- Organic vegetable farming has become a boon for many of the growers as they are getting extra benefits besides ensuring safe vegetables to the consumers in general.
After getting government technical support the farmers are seen using different types of organic and bio-fertilizers and pesticides instead of the conventional chemical ones.
“I have attained more bean yield from ten decimals of land after using organic fertilizer and pesticides compared to the conventional method,” said Ismail Hossain, a resident of Parila village under Paba Upazila.
He received 40 kilograms of organic fertilizer and five packets of seed for the bean cultivation from the government under the safe vegetable production programme.
Brahmanbaria violence: Sarail OC transferred
Police administration has taken action against officer-in-charge of Sarai Police Station on charge of negligence in duty during Hefazat’s violence in Brahmanbaria on March 27.
Brahmanbaria district police’s additional superintendent of police Rois Uddin confirmed the matter.
The district police’s special branch assistant superintendent of police Alauddin Chowdhury, Sadar Model Police Station Abdur Rahim and Khatihata highway Police Station OC Gazi Shakhawat Hossain have been transferred over the same incident.
On March 27, at least five people were killed and around 50 others, including 25 cops, injured in clashes between members of law enforcement agencies and locals during Hefazat’s demonstrations at Nandanpur in Sadar upazila.
