And, with a new role with Bord Bia to her name, she’s looking forward to spending more time getting to know her native county. “Since coming back, I can really see such improvements, especially around hospitality, with Center Parcs in Ballymahon. It’s great to see that development,” she told the Longford Leader. “And the walkways - I’ve gone to a few different ones. I walk along the Shannon in Lanesboro and the canal and the new bog walk in Lanesboro. It’s incredible to see those services and see how local people are using them.

Bord Bia has announced the appointment of Karen Connaughton as its new industry talent manager. The job will see the appointee take responsibility for the Bord Bia Talent Academy, which, according to the Irish food board, helps to identify and develop future executive talent for Ireland’s food and drink industry. Talent manager In her new role, Karen is returning to Ireland from the UK, where she spent the past five years with Bord Bia, most recently as its market specialist for the dairy, seafood and alcohol sectors. Karen joined Bord Bia through its Marketing Fellowship programme, gaining a Masters in International Marketing Practices at UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Limerick hotel serves up online classes for students Reporter: );   ); A POPULAR Limerick Hotel is running project for Transition Year students to get them involved with the hospitality industry. Due to Covid-19, Transition Year students in Limerick have been unable to go on work placement as they normally would. The Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare usually take in several TY’s on their placement and they felt their absence this year. “Normally every year, we would have several TY students on placement which gives them a nice insight into the hospitality industry and a little bit of practical training,” said proprietor Louis Murphy.
