Nico Simeone to open charitable restaurant Beat 6 in Glasgow The team behind the Six by Nico group of restaurants is opening a new venue that will donate its profits to charity. Called Beat 6, the restaurant, to be located on Whitehill Street in the Dennistoun are of Glasgow, will donate its profits towards the Beatson Cancer Charity, which supports the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre Restaurateur Nico Simeone and his wife Valentina have created the project to help the Beatson Cancer Charity help others in the same way it helped them. Valentina has benefitted from the treatment the Beatson provides having been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May of 2015, at the age of 25. 

Demand to reinstate safety measures in Dennistoun Low Traffic Neighbourhood

Thomas Cornwallis CYCLE campaigners are calling for the immediate reinstatement of safety measures removed from a new Low Traffic Neighbourhood. The Glasgow Times told in February how council bosses had opted to take away a number of contraflow cycle lanes in Dennistoun to allow for kerbside parking. Bike experts claim the move will make roads less safe and discourage people from cycling - the opposite of the scheme s intention. Cycling advocacy group GoBike has now written to Glasgow City Council and local councillors to share its concerns. Thomas Cornwallis, co-convenor of GoBike, said there has as yet been no response.
