Covid infections slow in north London - Is lockdown working? | Hampstead Highgate Express

Haringey was down 2.3pc on the week before and Camden was down 3.1pc.   It was the first time Camden’s infection rate had dropped, week-on-week, since December 5, and the first time Haringey’s had fallen since November 27.   The local picture  But the decrease is not happening everywhere. In Camden, cases were up by 23.3pc in Abbey Road, 20.4pc in the Caledonian Road area, 14pc in the Fitzjohns and Royal Free area, and 6.1pc in Hampstead town.   But in South Hampstead cases were down 28.6pc and in West Hampstead they had fallen by 12.1pc. Tufnell Park West had seen infections plummet by 57.8pc.

A “major incident” means the “severity of the consequences” associated with it are “likely to constrain or complicate the ability of responders to resource and manage the incident”.

As hospitals across the capital come under increased pressure, the rise in cases in Camden was described as alarming by one GP. The latest government data shows 35 Covid patients were admitted across the three hospitals of the Royal Free NHS Trust on December 20, by far the highest figure since mid-April.  The figures show there were 244 Covid patients in the trust s hospitals as of December 23, with 78 at the Whittington.

The hospital boss also praised Michelle s personal commitment, particularly her accessibility and visibility . The chair of the Whittington Trust, Baroness Julia Neuberger, said the recognition for Michelle reflected the outstanding work of her colleagues, too.
