The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many people to work from home. Employers and employees alike have had to embrace the idea and make it work. For some companies, the temporary work-from-home situation will become permanent.
That will be the case for Whitecourt Star. Since March, when most of the country closed down to help stop the spread of COVID-19, employees of the Whitecourt Star have been working from home.

Even when businesses were allowed to open, the Star’s staff did not return to the office, at 4732-50 Avenue. The comforts and work stations at home were already set up. Spending the last nine months working effectively from home, proved a physical office building isn’t needed in order to operate effectively.

A virtual Business Resiliency Forum Wednesday, May 5 will increase awareness of supports available to small businesses amid the pandemic.
The event is being held by the Town of Whitecourt, Community Futures Yellowhead East (CFYE), the Whitecourt and District Chamber of Commerce, Alberta government and the Whitecourt Business Support Network.

“Any small- to medium-size business that has faced some impact due to COVID-19 or looking for additional resources … would benefit from attending,” said Michelle Jones, CFYE executive director.
