After a year of pandemic-induced closure, the Stranded Pilgrim craft-beer bar inside Frank Bonanno s Denver Milk Market, at 1800 Wazee Street, has finally reopened for business Fridays through Sundays.
The bar, with twenty taps, typically has had a well-thought-out selection of local brews, from light lagers to hazy IPAs, from saisons to stouts.
Beers on tap the first week included WeldWorks Juicy Bits, New Image Passionfruit Dyad, Hogshead Chin Wag ESB, Tivoli Bo Girl Pilsner and Odell Peach Stand Rambler. But you will also be able to find beers now or in the near future from Epic Brewing, Great Divide, 4 Noses, Wibby, Cerveceria Colorado, Outer Range, Barquentine, Denver Beer Co., Ratio and many more.

When Todd Olander and his wife, Emily, opened the doors of their new malt house in August 2016, they expected the product to fly out the door.
Instead, it took several months of pounding the pavement to sell the first 2,000 pounds as the couple attempted to convince craft brewers across the northern Front Range to give them a try.
“We thought we’d made a big mistake,” Olander recalled recently.
But after they hired a full-time salesman with a background in brewing, the tide turned.
“In 2017, we were able to pay our bills, so that was a success for us,” Olander said.

Forty former members of the National Organic Standards Board sent an open letter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack recently, which was also circulated to members of the House and Senate agriculture committees, demanding reforms to insure the integrity of the federal organic label. We are writing to share with you our concern that the integrity of the National Organic Standards has eroded significantly over the years,” the letter states. “In some cases, the Standards have devolved from the original intention, as in the example of enclosed poultry porches substituting for outdoor access. In other cases, a lack of strong enforcement of existing standards has led to well-documented cases of fraud and an economic burden on organic operators who follow the rules, versus those who do not.”
The six Grand County breweries that participated in the collaborative East Troublesome Pale Ale initiative were able to help raise $34,000 for the Grand Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps people who were evacuated, displaced or lost their homes to the devastating East Troublesome wildfire last year. And 27 home brewers who entered the East Troublesome home-brew competition were also part of the fundraising effort.
Root Shoot Malting, alongside Colorado Hop Company and Propagate Labs, donated ingredients to the breweries for the beer; the recipe and ingredients were then made available to the home brewers, who were encouraged to brew their own version of the benefit beer, Root Shoot says.
