Readiness to Reopen: Leaders Gauge COVID Threat in Black Communities By Aldon Thomas Stiles, California Black Media Published May 13, 2021 (Courtesy photo) With California set to do away with most of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions and prepare to fully reopen on June 15, some Black leaders and medical professionals are taking stock of the pandemic’s impact on Black communities. They are also tracking readiness in those areas to return to business as usual. As of May 7, over 60% of Californians had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
