A wet, blustery start to the day but showers should be clearing by afternoon.

4pm Skies clearing for the evening Showers are expected to start clearing, and strong southerlies easing and then dying out, bringing a fine evening.
2.30pm Bus strikes on hold Wellington bus strikes are on pause as NZ Bus tries to hash out a last-minute deal with Greater Wellington Regional Council and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. Tramways secretary Kevin O’Sullivan said on Tuesday that the union “agreed to put any industrial action on hold” for at least a week. More on this story from infrastructure reporter Joel Macmanus.

1.30pm: Barry and Bishop to take rivalry to the ring? Hutt City Mayor Campbell Barry has challenged National MP Chris Bishop to a boxing match for charity via Twitter on Tuesday morning. The pair recently faced off for the best ‘manu’ off Days bay wharf at the celebration of its reopening after two years of refurbishment. That day, Bishop graciously accepted defeat, today he is yet to confirm whether he will face the emboldened Barry in the boxing ring.
Little is known about her new project. The announcement comes several days after Gadsby announced she had married producer Jenney Shamash in January. Shamash has worked in London and New York and produced
Douglas.

A well-known New Zealand comedian has postponed his Wellington show while awaiting a Covid-19 test.
Comedian Tofiga Fepulea i was scheduled to perform his solo show Sorry Bout It at the Wellington Opera House tonight.
As Fepulea i is awaiting a Covid test result, the show has been postponed to Saturday May 8 at the Michael Fowler Centre at 7.30pm.
An update on the show s website said he developed mild flu symptoms on Sunday and went to get a Covid test in abundance of caution .

Drag brunches, pool parties and marches with glamaphones are some of the events to look forward to over the next two weeks as the capital turns rainbow for the Wellington Pride Festival.
In spite of the uncertainty of Covid alert levels in 2021, the event will host more than 80 events this month, following on from last year s record-breaking festival.
The event has been on the city s calendar since the first Newtown Lesbian and Gay Fair in 1986, which was organised as part of the campaign for the Homosexual Law Reform Bill, which passed later that year.
