Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons Return to SLC
Readers who were savvy to the Utah music scene in the 90s and early 00s may remember the stalwart musical act Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, a band with a rotating cast of members, all centered around the illustrious and ambitious Joseph. A transplant to the area in 1996, Joseph would go on to put out solo albums in tandem with his band s records, spending the bulk of the years after the millennium wandering among different tours, bands and recording projects, dotting almost every year of the past two decades. Now based in Portland, Oregon, Joseph will make a return visit to SLC when he stops in at The Garage on Beck between May 21-23, in support of his most recent album, the late-2020 release
Meanwhile, U.S. rapper J. Cole earns a Top 20 debut with “i n t e r l u d e” (Interscope/Universal), lifted from his sixth album,
The Off-Season. It’s new at No. 20 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and is Cole’s first appearance on the survey since “Middle Child” peaked at No. 15 in February 2019.
Also new to the chart this week is Pink’s “All I Know So Far” (RCA/Sony), which drops in at No. 25 for the U.S. pop star’s second chart entry for 2021, following “Cover Me In Sunshine” (No. 6 in March). All I Know So Far is the title track from her upcoming live documentary, due out May 21 on Amazon Prime.
Coldplay has won British group at the Brits four times, more often than any other group. They have won British album of the year three times, which puts them in a tie with Arctic Monkeys for the lead. Coldplay has won two other Brit Awards, for a total of nine. Their 28 Brit nominations is the record for a group.
