Originally slated for April 2, 2020, the cast had already been in rehearsal for six weeks when COVID-19 forced them to shut down. It was to be the fifth of six shows as part of the theater’s 40th anniversary season, where they brought back past favorites such as “Harvey,” “On Golden Pond,” “Oliver,” and “Out of Sight, Out of Murder.”
Since then, the set – designed and painted by Sparky and Peggy Potter – has remained unchanged, waiting for audiences to fill the seats once more. With restrictions now lifted, that time has finally come. The cast and crew have been in rehearsal since May 23, awaiting the show’s opening on July 9.
Sugarhouse Soundworks gears up for summer
A secret musical sanctuary lies in the big red barn-like building at the end of the Mad River Park in Waitsfield. Musicians come from far and wide just to have a chance to record and perform at SugarHouse Soundworks, a studio with a beautiful mountainous exterior, inspiring high-tech interior and production-savvy executors.
“We’re really busy here,” said Sugarhouse Soundworks co-founder Eric Sigsbey. “If you’ve never been here, you might now understand why we’ve become so successful over the past few years.” Advertisement
Sugarhouse Soundworks has worked with musicians such as Cabinet, Twiddle, The Wesli Band, Laura Love, The Grift, Soule Monde, Walk that Walk and Guy and Jeska Forsyth for starters.
Busy spring at Aegis Renewable Energy
At Aegis Renewable Energy in Waitsfield, president and CEO Nils Behn said the company has been busy this spring and is doing a lot of work in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Asked about new advances in solar and alternative energy, he offered a few thoughts. The first has to do with bifacial (two-faced) solar panels. Advertisement
“These have gotten a lot of traction in the last one and a half to two years. They have panels on the front and back and the reflected light off the back side (or snow side during the Vermont winters) will generate power,” he said.
