A KIND-HEARTED mum is offering to iron frontline workers’ clothes and sheets during the latest lockdown. Clare Harris, a mum of four-year-old twins and stepson, 10, wanted to help those putting their lives at risk every day as they do their job. She had a huge response when she posted on social media asking if any frontline workers wanted their ironing done Clare of Kerry Close said: “If people do want to donate when I iron their clothes then that money raised will be going to Great Western Hospital’s Brighter Futures charity, otherwise it’s free. “I want to help all frontline workers not only NHS staff, so teachers, carers, and anyone who just needs some help. I know how draining standing there and ironing can be, but I do enjoy doing it so I might as well do it for others. It gives me some piece of mind helping others and doing something while I’m not at work.”
TODAY, the Adver pays tribute to the amazing people of Swindon who went the extra mile to help those in need during the pandemic. Whether it s feeding the hungry, supporting the vulnerable, or doing something silly to bring a smile to children s faces, the last 12 months have seen an incredible community effort . Community groups and businesses all over the town stepped up to the plate to feed hundreds of hungry children over the half-term after the government decided not to extend the free school meals scheme during the break. Though the PM later had a change of heart about this in November, these companies and groups were just as eager to support young people in need when the winter school holidays arrived.
