Despite the gains made in Canada against COVID-19 thanks to mass vaccination it’s too soon to celebrate the end of the pandemic. It’s far from over, according to news of the world.
Yes, we’re doing well here in Ontario, with two-thirds of adults (66%) fully vaccinated.
So bully for us but we must not become complacent.
It’s easy to forget what’s going on elsewhere. There are many countries where vaccination rates are very low, and as the more contagious and dangerous delta variant continues to spread globally, COVID numbers (and deaths) are rising again.

Published Monday, July 5, 2021 6:35PM EDT Police have charged eight people, including a 12-year-old boy, after fireworks were allegedly fired at beach-goers, police officers and their horses on Canada Day. In a news release issued Monday, police said that many people attended Woodbine Beach, just off of Lake Shore Boulevard East, between 9:30 and 9:50 p.m. As officers were patrolling the beach, police said, they observed individuals armed with fireworks shooting the projectiles at nearby crowds. The individuals also aimed their fireworks at officers and their horses, police said. At least one officer was struck in the head, though they were not injured, police said.
Toronto police have charged eight people in connection with fireworks on Woodbine Beach on Canada Day.

Toronto police have charged eight people after fireworks were allegedly set off in the direction of officers, police horses and people on Woodbine Beach on Canada Day.
No one was injured, police said in a news release on Monday about the incident, which they say happened between 9:30 p.m. and 9:50 p.m..
