DALLAS (AP) â JJ Redick made his Dallas debut Monday night after being sidelined by a sore right heel since being acquired from New Orleans at the trade deadline.
The veteran shooting guard s return comes against one of his former teams and former coaches in the Philadelphia 76ers and Doc Rivers, who had Redick for four of his seven seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Mavericks added Redick just before the deadline March 25, looking for a boost at the 3-point line as they try to climb into the top six in the Western Conference and avoid the play-in round for the playoffs.
He said, ’I’m all in, I can’t wait to get there, Hextall said Monday afternoon while announcing the first major move since he replaced Jim Rutherford in February. We have a player here who has won two Stanley cups . his reaction last night was terrific.
And emphatic. He said I can come out whenever you want, I’m ready to go tomorrow, which is today, Hextall said. Credit to Jeff, he should be here (Monday night) and hopefully we can get him in with the rest of the guys (on Tuesday).
Carter was the lone move the Penguins made at the deadline, one made easier thanks to both Carter s Cup-winning pedigree and the Kings offer to pick up half of Carter s salary, which carries an average annual value of $5.2 million.
HOUSTON (AP) â Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch reflected on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal that cost him his job as the teamâs manager in his return to Houston on Monday, saying it put a âcloud over the sport.â
Hinch was suspended by baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred for a year in January 2020 and subsequently fired by owner Jim Crane for his role in the scheme that violated rules by using a video camera to steal catchersâ signs during Houstonâs run to the 2017 World Series title and again in the 2018 season.
He was hired by the Tigers this off-season and discussed the scandal prior to Monday nightâs opener of a three-game series against the Astros.
DALLAS (AP) â Joel Embiid scored 36 points and the Philadelphia 76ers wrapped up a long stretch of mostly road games with a 113-95 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
Embiid made all six of his free throws in the first four-plus minutes and was 14 of 15 from the line as the 76ers finished 8-4 while playing 10 of 12 games on the road going into their final regular-season meeting with Brooklyn.
Philadelphia took a half-game lead atop the Eastern Conference over the Nets, whose game at Minnesota was called off because of the shooting death of a Black man by police in the Minneapolis area.
HOUSTON (AP) â Ramón Laureano hit a two-run homer, rookie Seth Brown connected for his first big league home run and the Oakland Athletics beat the Houston Astros 7-3 on Saturday to win the series.
The Astros won the opener 6-2 on Thursday night to give them five straight victories over the Aâs after a four-game sweep to start the season.
But Oaklandâs offense, which sputtered as the Aâs limped to a 1-7 start, got going on Friday night in a 6-2 win powered by three homers and kept it going in the series finale by piling up a season-high 11 hits. The A s and Astros are scheduled off Sunday.
