Williamstown has been struggling with issues of race and policing as a result of the Black Lives Matter movement and allegations of past racial and sexual harassment at the Police Department. Harrington was invited to the Williamstown Select Board meeting Monday to talk about the Brady policy and how the process functions.

Harringtonâs office released its Brady list in October 2020. Scott McGowan filed a federal civil lawsuit, alleging that former Chief Kyle Johnson subjected others in the department to a hostile work environment that included unwanted sexual contact, racist epithets and retaliation. The suit named Mr. Johnson as well as Town Manager Jason Hoch, who Sgt. McGowan said was made aware of the former chiefâs alleged conduct but did not investigate.
