Share ORLANDO, Fla. – Ohio State’s John McNally and Cannon Kingsley both opened play at the NCAA Singles Championship on Sunday and both came up on the short end of their respective matches. McNally took on top-seed and No. 1 ranked Liam Draxl of Kentucky. He opened well, beating Draxl 6-2 in the opening set. Draxl then came back to win the second set 6-1 and force a deciding third set. In that set, both players held serve into a tiebreaker. McNally looked like he had control of the breaker, taking an early 4-1 lead. But then Draxl turned the tide and won the next six points to take the tiebreaker and the match.
