When Usman Khan was convicted for being part of a plot to bomb the London Stock Exchange, the judge was under no illusion about the serious danger he posed to society.
Mr Justice Wilkie singled him out from other extremists on trial because he was clearly a devious and scheming man dedicated to his extremist ideology.
The judge said that even after serving a lengthy custodial sentence, Khan would continue to pose a significant risk to the public because he was working towards a more ambitious and more serious jihadist agenda .

A prison governor has defended allowing the terrorist Usman Khan to take part in a Learning Together education programme before his deadly attack at Fishmongersâ Hall in London.
William Styles, who was governor for most of Khanâs time at the jail for terrorist offences, told an inquest that months before Khan killed Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones at a prisoner education event run by Learning Together in November 2019, he had thought Khan was âa success storyâ of the programme.
At an inquest into their deaths, Nick Armstrong, representing Merrittâs family, accused Styles of issuing âgiddyâ endorsements of Learning Together and neglecting his duty to remind the organisation of the dangers posed by Khan.
