The American Psychological Association (APA) reports 81% of Gen Z teens (ages 13–17) have experienced more intense stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a survey-based approach along with robust statistical analyses to identify key stressors from a set of students in a high school in Midwest United States. Our survey includes a broad range of stressors (15 explanatory variables) specific to high schoolers, controls (4 factors for pre-existing conditions), and mental health estimators (7 dependent variables) to identify changes in mental wellbeing during the pandemic. Cincinnati has some of the best high schools around, according to a new report from US News and World Report.
For its annual list, the US News Best High Schools ranked around 17,860 public high schools after reviewing nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. The rankings came out this week and include some familiar names in Greater Cincinnati.
In Ohio, Walnut Hills High School tops the list but eight other local high schools also ranked in the top 30 in the state.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Society for Science (the Society) on Jan. 21, 2021 named 40 finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
The seven Indian-American Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists were selected from 1,760 entrants, all of whom completed an original research project and extensive application process, according to a press release by the Society.

The finalists were selected based on their projects’ scientific rigor and their potential to become world-changing scientists and leaders, said the release.
