By Sean Smith, Boston Irish Contributor March 10, 2021 Sean Smith, Boston Irish Contributor The Rasa String Quartet will play a specially commissioned piece at A St. Patrick s Day Celtic Sojourn Fresh from the success of the virtual “A Christmas Celtic Sojourn” in December, WGBH broadcaster Brian O’Donovan and his dedicated production team, plus a cohort of accomplished music and dance performers – including some from Greater Boston – will present an online version of the annual “St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn,” from March 11 to March 14, and on March 17. Joining O’Donovan, the show’s creator and host, will be Newfoundland singer Matthew Byrne; Boston-based Irish fiddlers Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen; Scottish/Cape Breton-style fiddler Hanneke Cassel and Québécois guitarist Yann Falquet; local uilleann piper Joey Abarta; highly touted traditional Irish duo Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh; and sean-nos, or “old-style” Irish dancer

Tributes paid to extremely talented young woman killed in Wexford car crash

Tributes have been pouring in for a gifted young musician who tragically lost her life in a car crash in Co Wexford. Leona Reville, who was in her early 20s, has been described by those who knew her as a “fantastic person”, “extremely talented” and “one of the nicest people you could ever meet”. She was killed in a two-car collision on the New Line Road, near Wexford town shortly before 6am on Friday morning. The driver of the other car, a woman aged in her 60s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital but her injuries are understood to be non-life threatening.
