US-Außenministerin Wendy Sherman hat die Absicht mitgeteilt, für eine vollständige Denuklearisierung der koreanischen Halbinsel die Wichtigkeit einer koordinierten Reaktion Südkoreas und der USA auf Nordkorea zu betonen.
Die entsprechende Äußerung machte Sherman zum Auftakt des bilateralen Strategiedialogs mit Vizeaußenminister Choi Jong-kun am Freitag am Sitz des Außenministeriums in Seoul.
Sherman sagte, sie freue sich auf Diskussionen über regionale Herausforderungen, die im Widerspruch zu den Interessen der USA und der Republik Korea stünden und die auf Normen beruhende globale Ordnung beeinträchtigen könnten. Man wolle besprechen, wie beide Länder ihre Zusammenarbeit hinsichtlich des Klimawandels und guter Arbeitsplätze im Bereich sauberer Energien vertiefen könnten.

The high temperatures have been the cause of death of at least 233 people in british Columbia.
