Members of the Sorie town Community have expressed serious concern over the persistent power outage and low voltage in the community.
Sorie Town is the closest neighbour to Sumalia Town and Lercester Road communities. The community could easily be accessible through Jomo Kenyatta Road, back of Faith Healing Bible Church (Pastor Mambu).
Fanta Koroma, resident of Sorie Town Community, who is a single mother of five, cried out loudly about the serious economic damage the power shortage has caused her, stating that her family livelihood has been put at stake by the persistent power outage.

ZIMBABWE Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) chairman Sydney Gata says some top company engineers who were fired after following ministerial directives on the utility’s several power projects are now suffering with their kids not attending school anymore due to lack of money.
The Zesa boss was giving oral evidence before parliament’s Public Accounts Parliamentary Committee which hosted the Zesa board and management this past week.
He said efforts to have the engineers reinstated have stalled because their cases have been referred to the labour courts.

The Zesa boss was giving oral evidence before parliament’s Public Accounts Parliamentary Committee which hosted the Zesa board and management this past week.
He said efforts to have the engineers reinstated have stalled because their cases have been referred to the labour courts.
Gata said his board could not intervene either after a disciplinary committee had dealt with the dismissal matter.

ZIMBABWE Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) allegedly awarded a US$250 million tender to Sakunda Holdings for the installation of the 200MW Dema Diesel Power Plant in violation of the country’s procurement procedures.
This came out during a Public Accounts Parliamentary Portfolio committee oral evidence hearing from ZESA officials on Monday.
The deal had been agreed upon without following due tender procedures, according to the Auditor General’s report.
Committee chair, Tendai Biti described the deal as “atrocious” and demanded answers to several questions relating to the opaque deal.
“Who corruptly awarded Sakunda the US$250 million Dema Power Plant deal and why? How did ZESA get a US$35 million loan from Afreximbank without Parliamentary approval,” asked Biti.
The World Bank Board of Executive Directors today approved a $50 million grant from the International Development Association (IDA) to improve access to.
