Paying it forward during the holidays is always a generous gesture, but a Cape Coral 7- and 8-year-old sister-brother duo go above and beyond.
Adyn and Abby Pickett’s “Lego’cy Holiday Toy Drive” raised 1,800 toys for young patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers and John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
City Alert: Community holiday event serves over 400 local families
Fairfield, California (Thursday, December 24, 2020) The City of Fairfield was a proud partner at the December 19, 2020 Fairfield Community Services Foundation’s Holiday Toy, Coat and Food Giveaway. The event was a drive-through and walk-up event at Bethel Community Church that provided local residents in need an opportunity to receive free toys, coats, bags full of food, and personal protective equipment including holiday theme masks.
The Foundation partnered with the City’s Quality of Life Task Force, Bethel Community Church, Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club, First Northern Bank, Hopkins Auto Group, Paradise Valley Estates, Potrero Hills Landfill, Republic Services, Rylee Fund, Shelter Solano, Soroptimist, and West American Bank to hold a well-received giveaway event. Two local Dorchester-based unions – IBEW Local 103 and Pipefitters Local 537 – held toy drives this past week to help families facing hardship this holiday season. Local 537, represented by Business Manager Tom Kerr, to Santa Claus’s left above, Marine veteran and Inside Guard Danny O’Brien, and Organizer Chris Brennan, collected an estimated $20,000 worth of new toys for Toys for Tots, including Lego sets, games, dolls, and sports equipment.
Local 103, represented by President Bob Sheehan, below, left, and Business Manager/ Financial Secretary Lou Antonellis, loaded “two truckloads” worth of new toys to the 7th Annual Friends of Mayor Martin J. Walsh Holiday Toy Drive.
