Feb 8, 2021 Last year wasn’t exactly a great year for travel thanks to the pandemic so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to find out a lot of people didn’t exactly go on a lot of vacations. And according to a new survey, that just made Americans more determined to get away this year. Expedia’s Vacation Deprivation Study finds: 36% of Americans say they plan to resume taking their regular vacations this year. 32% plan to take more than usual to make up for vacations they lost. Americans actually plan to take an extra five days of vacation this year, for an average total of 13 days.

Stuck at home feeling deprived

SINGAPORE, 5 February 2021: Singapore is the most vacation deprived country in the world alongside Italy, in the latest edition of Expedia’s annual Vacation Deprivation Study that showed residents missed out on travel in 10 of the 16 countries surveyed. Expedia surveyed 9,200 consumers in 16 markets globally, including 300 in Singapore. The study revealed that 71% of the respondents in Singapore and Italy said they were ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ vacation deprived, making them the most vacation-deprived countries in the world, ahead of South Korea (70%), France (70%) and Malaysia (68%).
