India Tourism grateful for government relief from severe COVID-19 crisis

The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) expressed its gratitude to the Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Finance Minister for giving some relief to the tourism industry including 5 lakh free visas applicable until March 31, 2022, whenever visas are open.
IATO President Mr. Rajiv Mehra acknowledged the support of the Hon. Tourism Minister during this critical time.
Remarks were also made by the Hon. Finance Minister at a press conference held this afternoon, June 28, 2021.
The relief provided to the damaged tourism sector which includes of course tour operators and registered tourist guides.

Synopsis
The LTC Cash Voucher scheme was announced by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in October 2020 to boost consumer demand and to provide tax benefit to individuals who are unable to claim the usual LTC tax benefit due to covid-related travel restrictions.

The deadline to submit bills/claims for benefits under the LTC Special Cash package scheme has been further extended to May 31, 2021. The Department of Expenditure, via an Office Memorandum issued on May 7, 2021 stated that due to the current Covid-19 situation the last date of submission of bills under the LTC Cash scheme has been extended till May 31.
