Qualcomm Signs Telangana s Largest SEZ Lease Agreement May 25, 2021, 16:17 IST
HYDERABAD: Qualcomm, a semiconductor and wireless technology company headquartered in the United States, is constructing a 1.6 million square feet -mega facility in Hyderabad. This will be Telangana s largest SEZ leasing contract and Qualcomm s largest facility in India.
According to the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), the Qualcomm facility, which will be housed on 17 floors at the Sustain Properties Pvt Ltd SEZ in Raidurg being built by the K Raheja Group will cost Rs 3,904 crore and create around 8,700 jobs over the next five years. At a recent meeting, the unit approval committee of VSEZ gave their approval to the project. VSEZ covers all SEZs in Telangana.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The unit approval committee of Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), which met virtually on Friday, gave approval to the manufacturing of intermediates for Covid drugs, and also ratified the earlier approval given to the production of Remdesivir.
According to VSEZ development commissioner A Rama Mohan Reddy, the UAC ratified Dr Reddy Lab’s proposal to produce 10.5 lakh Remdesivir vials. It also approved the proposals of Salora Active Pharma Sciences in APSEZ Atchutapuram for producing Favipiravir intermediates; and the nod for Uridine production for Molnufiravir was given to Laurus Labs, Atchutapuram. Both are important Covid drugs, Ramam Mohan Reddy said.

‘Formalities completed within hours of receiving application from Dr. Reddy’s Lab’
The Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) on Friday granted approval for production of Remdesivir injections at a unit on its premises at Duvvada within hours of receiving applications from Dr. Reddy’s Lab in this regard.
VSEZ Development Commissioner A. Rama Mohan Reddy said that all the formalities pertaining to the approval were completed on a war-footing, considering the increasing requirement of the life-saving drug in view of the rapid spread of infections during the second wave of coronavirus pandemic.
