Sacramento-born band CAKE launches reforestation project for 2021 Earth Day

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Sacramento-born alt-rock group CAKE is taking City of Trees to a new level this Earth Day.
The band is partnering with non-profit One Tree Planted to help with forestation efforts in areas impacted by last year s wildfires. Though the project is relatively new, tree planting is actually a pretty common occurrence for CAKE. The band has been giving away trees at concerts for, I don t know, maybe five or 10 years now, John McCrea, guitarist and lead vocalist for CAKE, said.
Earth Day! The Musical
Earth Day! The Musical!, a Facebook Watch special hosted by science guy Bill Nye, who will share information on how you can help restore the planet. The event, a partnership with EARTHDAY.org will also feature appearances from young climate activists as well as Ben Platt, Charli and Dixie D Amelio, CNCO, Cody Simpson, Idina Menzel, Jack Harlow, Steve Aoki, and Tori Kelly. CAKE will celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day 2021 with the launch of a groundbreaking reforestation campaign with One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. The #CAKEforests initiative will help raise much-needed funds to plant trees, sustain healthy communities, and help to restore the environment in three U.S. regions devastated by last year’s wildfires.
In 2020, the Western United States experienced a series of major wildfires across California, Oregon, and Washington, burning more than 10.2 million acres. The #CAKEforests campaign will take action to help restore these forests, habitats, and communities by working to plant trees and return the forests to their natural state. One Tree Planted has reserved 16,000 trees on behalf of CAKE to be planted in 2021 in each region. Every dollar donated will plant a tree in one of three reforestation proje
