Located on a 35-acre site, the 425,000-square-foot mill will manufacture lumber, engineered wood products, and biomass. At full capacity, the mill will produce as much as 120 million board feet of lumber annually - making it the largest sawmill in the state, according to the company. The goal of the operation is to help thin the fire-ravaged forests of Arizona, which NewLife says are upwards of 20 times more overgrown than normal. The U.S. Forest Service is collaborating with NewLife in the effort under the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI).

NewLife Forest Restoration has officially opened itsNewLife new 425-thousand square foot sawmill and re-manufacturing facility at the old home of SCA in Bellemont. The high-production sawmill, which represents an $80 million capital investment in the area, is designed to manufacture lumber, engineered wood products, biomass and residuals. At full capacity, the facility will be the largest sawmill in the state and will produce as much as 120 million board feet annually of lumber and engineered wood products. It will substantially increase the regional log processing capacity necessary to restore the health of two-point-four million acres of Arizona forest land. NewLife Forest Products is managing Phase 1 of the 4FRI contract with the US Forest Service. The facility will produce around 200 new local jobs.

A new leadership team has also been named. NewLife announced last month that it would build a 425,000-square-foot sawmill near Flagstaff, Arizona. Around 200 employees will be hired to work at the facility, which will output 120 million board feet of lumber per year.
