Argent Theatre, Newark, reflects on a year of coronavirus lockdown for amateur dramatic companies  | Updated: 10:32, 01 April 2021 Few industries have been hit harder by the pandemic than entertainment. A year ago theatres were forced to close their doors, and have yet to re-open. Among them were theatre and amateur dramatic groups across Newark and Sherwood. But, the green shoots have recovery can be seen and it is hoped live performances will return within months. Argent Theatre joins national protest for more support for theatres during the pandemic. (45302726) “It’s been a year since theatres across the country closed their doors. A year of plays, performances and livelihoods put on hold,” said Chantelle Thornley, of Newark’s Argent Theatre.

Workington to Keswick Charity Walk is cancelled this year

Organisers of the Workington to Keswick charity walk, due to take place on March 21, announced that the walk would not be going ahead this year. They said on their Facebook page: We are very sad to announce that this years charity walk will not be taking place. We have tried our best to make plans so we can go ahead but seeing as though there are too many unknowns about the next few months, we have decided to cancel. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and we hope to see you in 2022.
