My rumoured Interest In 2023 Presidential Election Speculative, says Jonathan

Photo: ASKTEEKAY Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described as speculative, his rumoured interest to contest the 2023 presidential election, pledging to continue to serve God, humanity, Africa and the world to the best of his ability and with all sense of commitment and sincerity. He decried the incessant kidnapping of school children and many Nigerians for ransom by bandits. Jonathan, who was disturbed by the increasing rate of insecurity, called for synergy among President Muhammadu Buhari, state governors, security chiefs and other stakeholders to de-escalate the tension occasioned by the challenge of insecurity in the country.  The former President made the call when he led a delegation of politicians from Bayelsa State on a condolence visit to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at Government House, Asaba, over the death of his father, Sir Okorie Okowa.

Rescue three kidnapped persons in Nasarawa, arrest four cultist in Plateau The Defence Headquarters, yesterday, said gunboats of Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, Akwa Ibom State, arrested two suspects and a wooden boat laden with 1,184 of 25kg bags of Yaraliva Nitrabor Fertiliser being smuggled from Cameroon during routine patrol on the Effiat waterways. It also disclosed that while fertilisers were usually for agricultural purposes, the possibility of it being acquired by criminal elements and militants for making explosives could not be ignored. Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said this while briefing journalists on military operations in Abuja, stressing that the arrested fertiliser posed security threat considering current security challenges in the country.
