HaiSea Marine orders five tugs for LNG Canada contract
HaiSea Marine, a joint venture of Haisla Nation and Seaspan, has entered into a contract with Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyards for a fleet of five tugboats that will support the Anglo-Dutch Shell-led LNG Canada project in Kitimat, on Canada’s west coast.
The tugboat fleet, based on designs from Vancouver naval architect Robert Allen Ltd selected by LNG Canada and HaiSea Marine earlier this year, will consist of two dual-fuel (LNG and diesel) RAstar 4000-DF escort tugs and three ElectRA 2800 battery-powered harbour tugs

Sanmar to build LNG tugboats for Pakistan
Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyards has signed a deal with Pakistan’s Port Qasim Authority to build and supply four LNG-powered tugboats, Sanmar said on April 2.
Under the $33.46mn deal, Sanmar will also build two pilot boats. The tugs are scheduled to be delivered in 12 months and the pilot boats in 10. They will be part of the Kocacay range of escort and harbour tugs, based on the Sanmar RAstar 3200SX design from Canada-based Robert Allan.
Three of the 32m x 13m x 5.6m LNG compatible tugs will have a 75 metric tons of bollard pull (BP) ahead and astern, while the fourth will have a BP of 85 mt, the company said.
