In 2016, Ibrahim Uba Yusuf, an indigene of Borno was so impressed with new Chief of Defence Staff Lucky Irabor that he declared him his man of the year in a local publication in Maiduguri. 
Before then, the entire Sambisa Forest had fallen to Gboko Haram but Irabor led the operations that recovered greater part of the forest. Buhari had on Tuesday approved the resignation of the outgoing Service Chiefs.
The president commended them, while accepting their immediate resignation and retirement from service.
Buhari had applauded the immediate past Service Chiefs for their achievements in ensuring peace in Nigeria.
Following their resignation, the president immediately appointed Maj Gen LEO Irabor, CDS, Maj Gen I Attahiru, Army, Rear Adm AZ Gambo, Navy, AVM IO Alao, Air Force.

The new Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Leo Irabor, with Army number 8370, was born on October 5, 1965. He is from Ika South of Delta State and he is a member of regular course 34 of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
He was once the Theatre Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole and later took over as the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) before he was on Tuesday named the Chief of Defence Staff.
Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, the new Chief of Army Staff, with Army Number 8406, was born on August 10, 1966. He is from Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State and a member of the Regular Course 35 of the Nigerian Defence Academy. ....
