Penang seeks federal aid to help employers send foreign workers for Covid-19 screening

BALIK PULAU (Dec 30): The Penang government today requested for the federal government’s assistance to provide allocation for employers that need to send their foreign workers for a mandatory Covid-19 screening test. State Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the majority of employers were not able to finance the screening test for their workers as their business had been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. “Screening tests should be provided free under the federal government s Budget 2021. The federal government has allocated RM4 billion to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to curb the spread of this epidemic so I suggest we use the allocation for this screening test.
