The successful recipients of the 2021 ClubGRANTS scheme for the Wagga Wagga LGA were announced this week, with 15 local not-for-profit community groups.

Fatal pedestrian crash at Wagga Wagga
A man has died after being struck by a car in the state’s south-west overnight.
About 5.45pm (Wednesday 2 June 2021), emergency services were called to Mitchellmore Street in Mount Austin, a suburb of Wagga Wagga, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a Ford Falcon.
The man, aged 69, was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition with serious head and internal injuries; however, he died a short time later.
Officers from Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene. The driver of the Ford, a 31-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Private Liam Wolf, 18, died two days after the fall, on April 21, 2019.
Pte Wolf likely suffered a cardiac arrest and then sustained a brain injury in the fall, expert witnesses are expected to tell the NSW Coroners Court.
The fall came as the Queensland teenager was nearing the end of the army s 80-day basic training course for new recruits at Blamey Barracks in Kapooka, in the NSW Riverina.
The recruits rose at 4am and marched five kilometres with weighted packs. Then they set out to do an obstacle course designed to test the resilience and teamwork skills they d been building.

Man dies in fatal crash – St Johns Park
A man has died in a crash in Sydney’s west and police are investigating several other serious crashes across the state overnight.
About 6.20pm (Friday 7 May 2021), a 45-year-old man was driving a Toyota Echo on Sackville Street at St Johns Park, when it left the road and hit a power pole.
The man and his 81-year-old passenger were trapped as emergency services arrived at the scene.
They were both released from the car, however the man died.
The woman suffered serious injuries to her face, pelvis and back and was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
