Unauthorized YNP guide sentenced for illegal activity

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - Acting United States Attorney Bob Murray announced that 60-year-old Theordore Eugene Garland, of Edmond, Oklahoma was sentenced on seven counts of illegal activities and violations in Yellowstone National Park (YNP). Garland appeared in front of Magistrate Judge Mark L. Carman in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming on July 2 for the sentencing. He was charged with 15 counts of illegal activities and violating national park regulations. After hearing the evidence at a bench trial held on April 7 and 8, Judge Carman found Garland guilty on seven counts. According to a release, Garland has a social-media page, podcast and a guidebook. All three have overlapping pictures and posts about his guided tours in YNP, which violated closures and other park regulations and encouraged visitors to do the same.

Boomers and Beyond: Brookline Senior Center announcements COURTESY OF BROOKLINE COUNCIL OF AGING AT BROOKLINE SENIOR CENTER Ongoing events Springwell grab-and-go hot lunches The center is now offering hot “grab and go” lunches Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays in collaboration with Springwell. To reserve a hot lunch, residents must call the Senior Center at 617-730-2747 two business days in advance. There will be no admission to the Senior Center for any reason at the time of pickup. Those who are not feeling well and/or have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher should stay home and contact their physician. Face coverings (i.e., scarf, mask, bandana) are required when picking up the meal. Residents will be required to follow the directions provided by staff and volunteers at the time of arrival. DA: 2020 deputy-involved shooting justified following review

Barbosa’s wife left the house with her children when Barbosa followed her in a Ford F-150. Deputy Garr contacted Barbosa’s wife to follow up on her earlier 911 call. Deputies advised Barbosa’s wife to meet deputies at the auction yard in Cottonwood, where Sergeant Jose Gonzalez was en route to. When deputies contacted Barbosa’s wife in the parking lot, Barbosa drove away and deputies did not follow him, instead, they contacted his wife. While en route to the auction yard, Sgt. Gonzalez saw Barbosa’s truck and began to follow him to see if he would return home. He passed the road to his home and was heading in the direction of a more populated area.
