LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Friday was irked when it transpired that the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) also claimed its ownership on a land of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) illegally occupied by the police.
“Now I understand as to why the police department has been reluctant to evacuate its possession from the land,” the chief justice said.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Thursday took exception to non-compliance of an order by the police regarding ending illegal possession of land belonging to the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and summoned senior officials of the provincial government and the police.
The chief justice had on December 16, 2020 sought a compliance report after Inspector General of Police (IGP)
Inam Ghani submitted an undertaking to end possession by the Police Department of 72 Kanals of the ETPB.
Several petitioners had contended through a counsel that the Police Department in 2001 had requested the Evacuee Trust Property Board to let it construct the Elite Police Training School on 72 Kanal and seven Marlas.

The chief justice had on Dec 16, 2020, sought a compliance report after Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani submitted an undertaking to evacuate the 72 kanal land of the ETPB that was in possession of his department.
Several petitioners had contended through a counsel that the Punjab Police had requested the ETPB in 2001 to let it construct the Elite Police Training School on the 72 kanal and seven marla land. Police had offered the ETPB land of the same size but in scattered form on three different points. The board materialised the land deal in 2011 and later leased out the land it had got in exchange to the petitioners and others individuals.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Wednesday directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani to submit a compliance report after the Police Department leaves possession of 72 Kanals belonging to the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB). The chief justice was hearing petitions by at least ten individuals against the possession of the land by the Police Department. IGP Ghani appeared before the court and undertook that the possession will be withdrawn from the land in question. The chief justice observed that the court could take notice of other land transactions of the Police Department which apparently lack transparency. He directed the IGP to submit the compliance report on the next hearing.
