Mayor Jonathan McCollar plans to give his 2021 State of the City speech Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the usual time of the month’s second regular Statesboro City Council meeting.
That meeting – with steps toward major improvements to two parks and a preliminary vote on a property maintenance code on the agenda – will then follow the mayor’s speech. The after-5:30 p.m. regular session will conclude a series of three public meetings in the City Hall council chambers set to start with a work session on multiple topics at 3 p.m.
Some Statesboro neighborhoods could see improvements in the next few years. The city hopes they can help homeowners make their homes better or replace houses beyond repair.

A city ordinance regulating food trucks in Statesboro has not been approved yet, after City Council returned it to first-reading status for revisions to prevent food truck operators from routinely setting up in residential areas.
Statesboro’s city government is inviting developers to submit applications for its newly revamped residential subdivision incentive program as officials seek to encourage construction of new owner-occupied homes within the city limits.
