Karen A. Foote, 67, of 219 LeRay St., Black River, passed away June 27, 2021 at her home.
Born on April 26, 1954 in Watertown, daughter of Lloyd E. and Annette (Torrance) Foote, Karen graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1972. She then received her Associateâs Degree in Accounting from Jefferson Community College in 1974.
Karen worked for the Department of the Army serving in various positions during her 37 years of government service, culminating as a Budget Officer, Resource Management Division, United States Army Medical Department Activity. She began her career on December 30, 1974 at Fort Drum, and she served at various Army bases throughout the US during her career before retiring from Fort Drum on November 11, 2011.

17 JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (May 12, 2021) Brooke Army Medical Center held a Lifetime of Service award ceremony May 11 to honor the legacy of employees who have served 45 or more years in civil service.
The new award was presented to a group of 18 individuals from across the organization whose years of service ranged from 45 to 66 years, for a combined total of 876 years of federal service.
“That’s an incredible milestone, representing over four decades, in some cases more, of dedicated service,” said Army Col. Michael Wirt, BAMC commander. “Their dedication to our nation and to our mission here at BAMC is astounding and certainly worthy of being recognized.”
West Side Elementary And Chickamauga And Chattanooga National Military Park Continue Partnership Tuesday, May 4, 2021
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will continue its support with West Side Elementary as part of the Catoosa County Schools Partnership Program. This program has continued since its inception in 1989.
Recently, the park’s Resource Management Division assisted West Side with the restoration of a plaque, located at the school. Also scheduled with West Side, is the annual March for Parks, taking place on Tuesday, May 11, where students raise money for monument, marker, and tablet restoration on Chickamauga Battlefield. The fifth-grade class will enjoy a field day to the battlefield to see just what their efforts in battlefield preservation are doing.
