Liz Barbaro Sant appointed as new chairperson of TradeMalta
She will be replacing Stephen Sultana, who held the position for two years

Liz Barbaro Sant, Vice President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed as the new chairperson of TradeMalta, replacing Stephen Sultana who held the position for the past two years.
Following TradeMalta s annual general meeting, Liz Barbaro Sant said that internationalisation has become increasingly important for the competitiveness of enterprises of all sizes.
“In today’s environment, it grants a true independence from the local market business cycles,” said Barbaro Sant.

Malta is driving forward a knowledge-based economy founded on research, creativity, innovation and the capabilities of the human intellect as means to elicit new areas of economic growth. This was said by Minister Silvio Schembri at the launch of the TAKEOFF Seed Fund Award (TOSFA), which is allocating another €100,000 to start-ups that wish to commercialise their business ideas. Minister Schembri stated this in the context of his ministry drafting an economic strategy for the long-term, with this pillar being seen as both the present and the future.
