Jun. 24—CHEYENNE — According to the Wyoming Department of Health, data gathered from Wyoming residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent months illustrates the success of the safe, free and effective vaccines authorized to fight the virus. A WDH review of more than 2,400 lab-confirmed and probable cases identified among Wyoming residents age 16 and older between May 1 and June 15 .

States are offering incentives for COVID-19 vaccinations in the form of lotteries, gift cards, event tickets, and other prizes. Teton County just announced their own version of giveaways.
Shots For Swags goal is for 80 percent of Teton County to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least the first dose by July 26. The campaign will have six weekly drawings beginning the week of June 14, and end with a grand prize drawing.
Rachel Wheeler, the Teton County Public Health Response Coordinator, said prizes include gift cards to local restaurants and stores, as well as horseback riding and raft trips. She said obviously some people can’t get the vaccine for certain reasons, but hopes this motivates those who can.

Wyomingites didn’t have to wait until the first week of June for the next update on the state’s public health orders. On Friday, May 21, the Wyoming Department of Health announced the most significant changes since the state’s public mask mandate was removed.
As of May 21, Public Health Order #2 – mandating masks during large indoor events – has been wholly rescinded.
Statewide public health order #2 mandated masks and social distancing for all indoor events of more than 500 people. It was one of the first orders enacted in March 2020, initially mandating masks for indoor activities.
