This year s Martin Luther King Day of Service and Remembrance on Monday won t feature a rally, a march or a service at the United Methodist Church.
Like so many other events affected by the coronavirus pandemic, it will go virtual with the launch of a multi-year community service project, according to Servewyoming.org.
The Casper Freedom Trail project features a virtual tour of locations related to the civil rights movement in Casper.
Servewyoming will post an online presentation of the trail. After you have watched it, the organization invites you to drive through Casper to view the places featured on the trail map, starting in north Casper on East H Street, then to Second Baptist Church on North Durbin Street to the Mathew Campfield Park on East M Street.
Many UW Offices Closed on MLK and Wyoming Equality Day
A majority of the University of Wyoming business and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Wyoming Equality Day.
UW transit services will also be unavailable.

Wyoming’s first Black sheriff takes office in troubled times

Albany County Sheriff Aaron Appelhans still has some work to do before his office is set up. The walls are mostly empty as stacks of framed pictures sit on shelves and the floor, paperwork piled high obscures the desktop. Behind it all sits the new sheriff, making sense of the opportunity he’s seized.
“It was a bit of a whirlwind for the first week,” Appelhans said with a laugh. “But it’s been overwhelmingly positive.”
