6-year-old girl shot while playing with Friends, Police Say

The little girl ran to her parents to tell them she had been shot.
The girl is OK tonight after being shot once in the leg. Her story though is highlighting the scary reality that children so young know gun violence all too well.
“There was a group of young males that began running towards the kids and shots were fired,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.
Police are investigating how a 6-year-old was shot while playing outside with friends Monday afternoon as her parents were sitting inside a car nearby.

A day after 16 people were shot and four killed in Philadelphia, the violence in the city continued with three people killed and five others injured in six separate shootings across the city Monday afternoon into the evening.
The first shooting occurred on the 3100 block of Jasper Street at 3:55 p.m. Monday. A 20-year-old man was shot once in the chest while a 28-year-old man was shot once in the left elbow and grazed in the left hip. Both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital. The 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at 4:20 p.m. while the 28-year-old man is in stable condition.
Inside the car where the man had been prior to getting shot, police found the 3-year-old son of a family friend, the chief inspector said. The child was unharmed and later reunited with his mother.
Police found 14 spent shell casings from a semiautomatic gun at the scene. Small said it appeared the gunman walked up to the victim and fired from close range, adding that he was apparently targeted.
Gunfire also hit a nearby home, but no one inside was injured, the chief inspector said.
Police could not immediately determine a motive or provide a suspect description, but Small said they were trying to get surveillance video from nearby businesses.

Two people, a man and a woman, were found shot and killed in North Philadelphia Sunday morning, police said.
Police have not released the identity of the two victims. One was a man, about 25 to 30 years old, who was shot twice in the head. The other was a woman, about 25 to 30 years old, who was shot once in the head.

Philadelphia police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in West Philadelphia. The incident happened Friday at about 8:15 p.m. on 54th Street and Wyalusing Avenue.
